A Taste Of Political Pistachio News

For those of you that do not visit my News Site, I thought I would bring you a quick taste of what I do over there daily:

Faith, Suicide, Gay Marriage, U.N. Investigates Racism in the U.S.

Obama ‘Faith’ Flier Hints at General Election Strategy – – – Barack Obama has a flier out in Kentucky that addresses his faith and his attempts to fulfill “God’s will” — and it could be a sign that the Illinois senator is returning to his religious roots as he gears up for a general election battle. Remember when Huckabee was chided for putting a Christian Cross in one of his election ads? Oh, the hypocrisy of it all.

MySpace Suicide Case Could Make Us All Criminals – – – Think twice before you sign up for an online service using a fake name or e-mail address. You could be committing a federal crime. And be careful what you say, it may land you in jail later. . . Don’t get me wrong, the people in this story that apparently drove this girl to suicide should be prosecuted because what they did was mean and wrong, but where is the line? Did they actually make the girl commit suicide? Or was that a decision the girl made, and what happened simply sped up the decision? How dangerous will it become for us to say anything to anybody, thus allowing someone to proclaim that our words made them do something, hence making it a criminal offense?

Why California Gay Marriage Ruling is Bad – – – A California Court overturned the state’s ban on gay marriage and it is a very bad thing for our society. More specifically, the courts overturned the will of the people.

U.N. racism investigator to visit U.S. from Monday – – – A special U.N. human rights investigator will visit the United States this month to probe racism, an issue that has forced its way into the race to secure the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination. What? How dare the U.N. think they have jurisdiction over us, and second, it is the Democrats that dragged “race” into this election. I can’t stand Obama because of his political positions. I could care less if he’s half-black, all black, or a purple shade of gray.

U.S. Should Engage Iran With Incentives, Pressure – – – The United States should construct a combination of incentives and pressure to engage Iran, and may have missed earlier opportunities to begin a useful dialogue with Tehran, Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates said yesterday. But remember, like when disciplining your children, we cannot use idle threats. If Iran refuses to abide by the provisions of the negotiations, we have to be willing to engage them militarily.

Bush Interrogation Rules of Detainees – – – Video of the hearing where legal scholars testified about the detention of terror suspects by the U.S.

New Starbucks’ Logo causing outrage among some Christian Groups – – – Apparently one person’s smut is another person’s latte. The new logo, I don’t think, is that big of a deal. What I am wondering is since Starbucks has abandoned the old green label for this new revealing black and white logo, are the “Think Green” Al Gore followers going to be all up in arms?

Remember when Obama said there is 57 states? – – – Perhaps he was referring to the 57 member-states of the Organization of the Islamic Conference. Go ahead, count them, there are 57. Okay, perhaps this is just a coincidence. Obama would never have anything Muslim on his mind, right?

2008 Joint Service Open House Air Show – – – Featuring the Navy Blue Angels and other exciting attractions this weekend, with free admission and free parking.

There is no crisis with falling prices – – – But when the government oversteps its bounds and sticks its hands into the economic world . . .
